Transfer to O'Neill

Academic requirements

You must meet the following academic requirements to transfer to the O’Neill School at IU Indianapolis from Ivy Tech:

  • 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher at Ivy Tech
  • 2.0 GPA or higher in your most recent semester at Ivy Tech
  • 12 or more college-level transferrable credit hours completed at Ivy Tech

Ivy Tech transfer credits

Your degree from the O’Neill School builds on the courses you’ve completed at Ivy Tech. You may even be able to transfer into O’Neill with junior standing and be on your way to completing a bachelor’s degree in just two years.

The following Ivy Tech courses will transfer directly to IU Indianapolis:

Criminal Justice

  • CRIM 101: Intro to Criminal Justice
  • CRIM 103: Cultural Awareness
  • CRIM 113: Criminal Investigation
  • CRIM 120: Intro to Courts
  • CRIM 150: Juvenile Justice
  • CRIM 240 or CRIM 211: Criminal Law
  • CRIM 280: Internship
  • BUSN 105: Principles of Management

Public Affairs

  • BUSN 105: Principles of Management
  • CRIM 134: Introduction to Criminal Justice Careers
  • POLS 220: Public Administration

Transfer to O'Neill IU Indianapolis from Ivy Tech

Current O’Neill students may transfer to and from schools on the Indianapolis and Bloomington campuses, either temporarily or permanently. All applications will be routed to the Office of Student Services for review.

Temporary intercampus transfer students

O’Neill Bloomington students seeking a temporary transfer to O’Neill Indianapolis must be in good academic standing:

  • 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher
  • 2.0 semester GPA or higher
  • 2.3 O’Neill major GPA or higher, if the student has completed 12 transferrable credit hours or more

Permanent intercampus transfer students

Students who transfer permanently to O’Neill Indianapolis must meet the following criteria:

  • 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher
  • 2.0 semester GPA or higher
  • 2.3 O’Neill major GPA or higher, if the student has completed 12 transferrable credit hours or more

Permanent intercampus transfer students who do not meet these requirements may be considered for probationary admission to University College until they are eligible to transfer to the O’Neill School.

Students transferring to the O’Neill School from another college or university will receive direct admission to O’Neill if they meet the following criteria:

  • 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Last completed semester GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Completed 12 or more transferrable credit hours

Some exceptions apply. Students who do not meet all the requirements listed above should meet with O'Neill's Director of Student Services, Debbie Koliba.

Current IU Indianapolis students in good academic standing may transfer to the O’Neill School to pursue a different major (or double major). Transfer requirements:

  • 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher
  • 2.0 semester GPA or higher
  • 2.3 O’Neill major GPA or higher, if the student has completed 12 transferrable credit hours or more
