The Graduate Certificate in Strategic Human Resource Management is a 12 credit hour program of study. This curriculum will support students who are working in public, private, or nonprofit organizations, as well as those who hold or are preparing for senior management roles that include HRM responsibilities. Students who complete the certificate will be equipped with the skills and knowledge for strategic and organization-level leadership.
The certificate curriculum will focus on HR and organizational leadership topics including:
- Compensation modeling
- Staffing plans
- Legal compliance
- Performance
- Coaching and mentoring
- Labor relations
- Strategic communication
Beyond receiving an Indiana University credential, a graduate certificate in Strategic Human Resource Management provides students with learning and eligibility for the aPHR certification exam or with at least three years of human resource management experience, the PHR or SHRM-CP exams. Students will be well-prepared for entry-level human resource management careers. Courses are offered in hybrid formats (evenings or online) and last eight weeks or a full semester. Students can complete the graduate certificate in any two consecutive terms, including summers. Courses may be applied toward other O’Neill graduate programs, such as the MPA.
